It turns out the Moxhams have kept their tree up for two years in anticipation of celebrating again, eventually, with family and friends. But what if we gave more thought to the nonprofits that need our help, whether through donations of money or time? Peruse our Charitable Giving Guide and pick the nonprofits that speak to you. And, Managing Editor Deanna Murphy profiles four additional worthy nonprofits in "When There's More to Give," introducing organizations that might be completely new to some or perhaps well-known but not always the first to come to mind. No matter where your heart is, our annual Philanthropy Issue offers plenty of ways to give back to our community. To get you in a festive spirit, Travel Editor Elizabeth Hansen highlights "Holiday Happenings" that include tree lightings, ice skating, photos with Santa, craft shows, boat parades, and musical performances. Our Attend section showcases charitable and cultural events. And our Seen pages are as stuffed as a Christmas stocking, recapping some of the best parties and fundraisers in town. Of course, there will be lots of wining and dining this season. One of my favorite new restaurants is Adelaide at L'Auberge Del Mar, reviewed in this issue by Food & Beverage Editor Brandon Hernández. He offers plenty of reasons to give the restaurant, helmed by Executive Chef Nick Green, a taste. And what to wear for all those holiday feasts and fêtes? I round up party dresses and evening wear to help you step out in style. Finally, in at "At Home With Jim Moxham and Ellen Golka Moxham," I tour the festively decorated home of the philanthropic Bankers Hill couple. I got to know Ellen, among the dozen dynamic women celebrated for their community service, when I co-chaired The Salvation Army's Women of Dedication. (See a recap of the event in our Seen section.)
