Directed by NVA's Kristianne Kurner, the musical, based on James Lapine's book, brings well- known fairytale characters to musical life. Sondheim's songs, seamlessly melded to Lapine's text, are perfect expressions of the complications of living in modern society and the difficult choices we encounter on the paths of our lives. newvillagearts.org Aging Magician May 13-14 | Balboa Theatre San Diego Opera's 2021-2022 season will close with the West Coast premiere of Aging Magician, a hybrid opera/theater piece that combines singing, choral work, puppetry, and performance art to create an incredibly unique theatrical experience. Aging Magician tells the story of Harold, an eccentric and aging clockmaker who is nearing the end of his life. He has been working on a children's book, and is at a critical point in his story. Should Harold kill off the magician? Should he allow him to live?
