ANDREA NAVERSEN: PHOTO BY JODY PINCHIN Letter from the Editor Taking in nature's beauty at The Flower Fields in Carlsbad, Hannah is wearing a top and pants from MJH Studios in Del Mar and earrings from John Matty Co. in Del Rayo Village. A North County treasure, The Flower Fields are aglow with nearly 50 acres of vivid ranunculus flowers that will be on view through Mother's Day, May 8. theflowerfields.com Photography by Vincent Knakal, hair by Courtney Duffy and Sandie Hamill for Headlines The Salon, makeup by Eileen Haligowski, model is Hannah Burnard for No Ties Management, shot on location at The Flower Fields in Carlsbad on the cover Y ou know it's spring when e Flower Fields in Carlsbad burst into bloom — a riot of ranunculus (Tecolote Giant Ranunculus, to be specific) — in bright bands of red, pink, purple, yellow, and white. Spread out on nearly 50 acres, the fields will produce an estimated 80 million blossoms at their peak. Over the years, e Flower Fields have been a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike to take in such attractions as the butterfly garden and sweet pea maze, and snap family photos (that's Editor-in-Chief Mia Park with her mother, Eiko, back in the day). So, what better backdrop than e Flower Fields for our annual spring fashion photo shoot? In "It's All Bright," we highlight head-to-toe seasonal hues sure to make a statement. In StyleNotes, I pick spring's best floral fashion, from Monique Lhuillier's fabulous citrus and floral ballgown to sweet mother-daughter dresses from Dolce & Gabbana at Neiman Marcus. Slip into a flowing dress from Camilla in a vibrant "Pretty as a Poppy" print, or step into Christian Louboutin's platform sandals. Other dazzlers include a silk print scarf from Hermès of Paris and the "Flowers and Leaves" necklace from Tiffany & Co. For additional style inspiration, in "At Home With Lisette Polny," I tour the Encinitas home of this passionate philanthropist and jewelry designer whose creations have been worn by British royals and Hollywood celebrities, and who has just opened an atelier in Rancho Santa Fe. Managing Editor Deanna Murphy profiles Aubri Steele of Solana Beach, whose love of pickleball led her to found sports apparel brand Civile in the midst of the pandemic. Murphy also tells us about My Pipl, a pop-up shop concept at Nordstrom featuring selections from global artisans.
