Meet The Chefs
For the 25th year, San Diego's finest chefs and the
local community came together to support the
children of Casa de Amparo at Meet the Chefs,
a spectacular food and wine event. e exquisite
culinary experience offered guests unlimited
samples of signature dishes from more than a dozen
premier restaurants and chefs, complemented by an
extensive selection of wine, beer, and champagne.
e afternoon's festivities also included auction
items and opportunity drawings. Proceeds directly
supported Casa de Amparo's mission to treat and
prevent child abuse and neglect.

Uplifting Voices
Voices for Children hosted its inaugural
Uplifting Voices fundraiser and raised more
than $380,000 to support the life-changing
advocacy of more than 1,000 Court
Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)
volunteers and youth in foster care in San
Diego County. e daytime event atop
Del Mar Plaza featured award-winning
journalist, author, and fifth-generation
beekeeper Meredith May. NBC 7 San
Diego's Mark Mullen moderated the
conversation about May's memoir,
e Honey Bus, a personal story that
underscores the lifelong impact of a
caring and consistent adult in the life of a
vulnerable child — a role often played by
CASA volunteers in the lives of children in
foster care. Co-chairs were Marina Marrelli
and Patty Brutten.
