Speaking to Ranch & Coast's commitment to giving back to our community, next up is Pickleball with a Purpose, a fundraiser we are hosting on April 29 at Bobby Riggs Racket & Paddle in Encinitas to benefit GenerateHope, the nonprofit which helps sex trafficking survivors find healing and hope through long-term housing, therapy, education, and vocational support. Join us for pickleball play, a pro exhibition match, and a reception with food and beverage partners, live music, and a silent auction. Event sponsors include the Jason Barry Team of Barry Estates, Aetna, and vehicle showcase sponsor Aston Martin San Diego. For tickets and info visit ranchandcoast.com/pickleball2023. Finally, I want to congratulate Bob Stefanko on his 25-year anniversary as owner and publisher of Ranch & Coast. Under his leadership, the magazine has survived recessions, the pandemic, and so much more. I am especially proud that we never paused or stopped in recent years when many other magazines called it quits. We are grateful for our leadership and talented, hardworking staff who care about community and each other. anks, Bob, and Happy Anniversary from the Ranch & Coast team! It is time to bask in the sun, gather outdoors, dine alfresco, and shed wintry layers (my black puffer coat is beginning to deflate after so many wears!). So, our April issue is devoted to fashion, filled with inspiration for the warm weather to come. e Ranch & Coast team, including photographer Vincent Knakal, decamped for a day at Alila Marea Beach Resort Encinitas, the luxury hotel perched atop the bluffs with the surf crashing below. e layout, "Bold is Beautiful," features bright prints from Ardsley Road Boutique, Cedros Soles, and Matti D, exquisitely embellished with pieces from John Matty Co. — all stylish reasons to shop local. Note the colorful surfboards in the lobby, a collaboration between local artist Todd DiCiurcio and surfing legend Rob Machado. e duo's creative designs also inspire a hand-painted mural that makes an appearance in Brandon Hernández's review of Temaki, the Encinitas hotspot offering sushi, handrolls, and sake. In "Pink Power!" I round up the best in spring fashion: flirty dresses, "killer" heels, coveted handbags and more, all in shades of the season's standout color. Also in this issue, I profile the women behind D&K Curated, the new Rancho Santa Fe boutique founded by Delorine Jackson and Khaki Wennstrom to provide not only cutting-edge fashion but to help revitalize retail in the Ranch. Managing Editor Deanna Murphy scouts the new and notable in fashion and jewelry, beauty and skincare around town. As I write this letter, the Ranch & Coast team and I had just walked, run, or bicycled to the finish line in Padres Pedal the Cause, the signature event of San Diego-based nonprofit Curebound, which drew thousands of participants to Petco Park to raise money for cancer research. Our 47-person- strong team was powered by Aetna/CVS Health. We are so proud to be part of such a worthy, life-saving cause. ranchandcoast.com 26 APRIL 2023 RANCH & COAST MAGAZINE
