Sparkles Foundation Children's Benefit Fashion Show Models of all ages walked the runway as part of the Sparkles Foundation's Children's Benefit Fashion Show at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines. e event featured a festive reception with hors d'oeuvres followed by a sit-down lunch, complimentary beverages, live entertainment, a live auction, and fashion show. e event raised funds to support charities dedicated to protecting at-risk children in San Diego and toward the fight against human trafficking. Guest speaker DA Summer Stephan spoke about the enormity of the problem, how it affects the San Diego community, and her efforts to combat the growing issue. Co-chairs were Melina Ounjian and Sparkles Foundation founder Kathy Kassardjian. Guests enjoyed wine, light bites, and a keynote discussion by Dr. Benjamin Maxwell, Chief of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at UC San Diego and Una Davis Chair of Behavioral Health at Rady Children's Hospital, who addressed the status of youth mental health. It is the organization's 20th year of granting and to date it has invested more than $5.2 million in the North County and Greater San Diego County area. e group is on track to invest more than $500,000 this year alone.
