Christmas?" His response is always, "Nothing," at least, not in a material sense. What he really wants is time with "kids," from four-year-old grandkids to 40-plus grown children. But this year, we are going to turn to our Ranch & Coast Charitable Giving Guide to pick our presents. We hope you will too. We at Ranch & Coast, with Publisher Bob Stefanko and Editor-in-Chief Mia Park at the helm, wish you all happy holidays and a fun, festive, and meaningful month ahead. ank you for your support in 2023. Our final issue of 2023 is filled with festivities! Travel Editor Elizabeth Hansen shares her favorite places to take out-of-town guests including ice skating at the Hotel Del, December Nights in Balboa Park, Dr. Seuss's How e Grinch Stole Christmas! at e Old Globe, and the La Jolla Christmas Parade, among others. So, who needs snow? Check out "Culture Calendar" and "New, Now, Next" for even more holiday happenings. Also in this issue, I curate "Bling Guide" and "Haute Holidays" spreads with Art Director Chloe Pedersen, four pages of fabulous fashion and coveted gifts from luxury retailers — Santa Baby, hope you are reading! Our annual Charitable Giving Guide is filled with profiles of more than 50 nonprofit organizations which are changing lives — and deserve our help. In "Always a Time of Need," Managing Editor Deanna Murphy gives us a closer look at five local charities, from Cancer Revengers to Pets Without Walls. On a personal note, every year our (grown) children ask: "What does Cappy (my husband's nickname) want for ranchandcoast.com 32 DECEMBER 2023 RANCH & COAST MAGAZINE
