It has been a turbulent year in terms of national and international politics, natural disasters, conflicts around the world, and so many challenges here at home. However, the holidays always bring us hope for a brighter future. My resolution is to really savor this festive season, with community and philanthropic involvement, parties, lunches with friends, and family gatherings. I also resolve to slow down even amid the hubbub, to take joy in simple but important things — reconnecting with friends from far and near, lazy beach walks, quiet time, and watching heartwarming holiday classics on television. Our final issue of 2023 is filled with festivities! Travel Editor Elizabeth Hansen shares her favorite places to take out-of-town guests including ice skating at the Hotel Del, December Nights in Balboa Park, Dr. Seuss's How e Grinch Stole Christmas! at e Old Globe, and the La Jolla Christmas Parade, among others.
