What's Now If you aren't already a devoted restaurant patron, the time to dine at Le Bambou is now. Family owned since 1986, Le Bambou is a healthy Vietnamese Asian fusion restaurant located in the Beachside Del Mar center that is well known for its Shaking Beef, Crispy Imperial Rolls, a variety of curries, and more. Established by the Do family nearly four decades ago, in 2018, son-in-law Nghia Le took over ownership when the Dos decided to retire. "I grew up along with the business, and it meant a lot to me that they trusted me to carry on their restaurant that they have grown from scratch," says Le. "My goal is to continue [their] legacy for generations to come." While preserving recipes, Le says, "I worked with my mother- in-law to perfect a [Pho soup] to add to our menu. Now it is one our most popular dishes!" Le says he is grateful for the Del Mar community. "We have so many customers who have been coming in for over 30 years and their support means so much to us. Many of our customers we know on a first and last name basis, some we even know their order by heart!" Headquartered in Del Mar, Jimbo's Naturally is celebrating its 40th anniversary this month. To mark the milestone, from July 1 to 14, Jimbo's will match up to $4,000 in donations made at the register with the goal of planting a total of 80 trees together with Healthy Day Partners. "By planting fruit trees, we are not only providing a sustainable source of fresh food but also fostering a healthier environment," says Jimbo's founder Jim "Jimbo" Someck. "This initiative exemplifies our mission to promote health, sustainability, and community." In addition, throughout the month, Jimbo's will double their customary five-cent charitable contribution for every reusable bag customers use to ten cents per bag, donated to select local charities. Reserve your spot at the Del Mar Ocean Club at HITS Del Mar Horsepark during the HITS Del Mar Endless Summer Jumping Tour equestrian show jumping competition series from July 10 to September 1. With two seating options — The Pavilion and The Garden — and catering by APS Hospitality Group, this is an elite equestrian viewing experience not to be missed. Weekly and daily passes are available. The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club is looking forward to its 85th summer racing season at the iconic seaside oval. This year marks a historic shift, as Opening Day at Del Mar on July 20 will be held on a Saturday for the first time since the 1950s. Track-goers can look forward to the fanfare and excitement the day brings with the Opening Day Hats Contest, followed by Del Mar Beer Fest on Sunday, July 21. The entire summer racing season features world-class thoroughbreds and an exhilarating lineup of trackside events — the most robust in recent years — including Tacos & Tequila (August 10), Taste of New Orleans (August 24), and Family Fun Day (September 1). In addition to Opening Day and trackside events, Del Mar's most anticipated race of the season, the FanDuel Racing Pacific Classic, takes place on August 31. The summer racing season will run through September 8. To celebrate the launch of the racing season, L'Auberge Del Mar's iconic Opening Day After Party will return on July 20. The celebration will feature plentiful food and cocktails, music performed by Betamaxx and resident DJs FishFonics and Gabe Vega, dancing, and exclusive rentable cabanas. The hotel is also offering an Opening Day After Party package that includes two complimentary tickets and luxe accommodations. Ranch & Coast Magazine is a proud media partner. What's Next Back at Del Mar Plaza, more debuts are ready to launch and in the works. Opening this month is The Cottage, a beloved La Jolla breakfast destination for more than three decades with a second location in Encinitas and its newest offering opening on the street level of Del Mar Plaza. Then, due to open in 2025 is Valley Farm Market, a family-owned specialty gourmet market and butcher shop with a 60-year history rooted in San Diego. The market will occupy a prominent street-front space, and alongside the market will be a deli-style eatery concept showcasing high quality ingredients, freshly caught seafood, and daily prepared dishes including ceviches and poke bowls.
