Soledad National Veterans Memorial Since 1954, Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial has honored veterans from every military branch and preserved their legacies. Nearly 6,600 black granite plaques, mounted across 18 walls beneath a 29-foot tall cross, commemorate those who have proudly served and sacrificed to protect our freedoms. 70 years later, the Memorial remains committed to its mission. 70 years later, the Memorial remains 100% privately funded. Support Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial to continue to be one of our city's most memorable landmarks, to tell our veterans' stories, and to be a Beacon of Freedom to all. The Impact of Your Support • By keeping the Memorial open to the public at no charge, it welcomed more than 300,000 visitors in 2023, and is on track to greet even more this year • 18 walls, all funded through charitable giving and maintained by volunteers, are lined with thousands of uniquely designed plaques displaying the names, faces, and unforgettable stories of veterans from every branch of our nation's military • Our Community Outreach and newly launched Education programs connect people from San Diego and around the world with the rich history and legacy of our veterans' sacrifices to preserve our freedoms
