Here's to many more years together! Letter from the Editor With federal, state, local, and private funding, Balboa Park's Botanical Building and Gardens is being restored to its former glory. Forever Balboa Park is partnering with the City of San Diego to steward the renewal of this iconic Balboa Park destination Photography by Vincent Knakal on the cover Mia Park, Editor-in-Chief Instagram: @ranchandcoast A s I write this month's letter, I am filled with gratitude reflecting upon our 60th Anniversary Celebration, which took place at the end of November at the Belly Up to commemorate not only our own milestone here at Ranch & Coast Magazine, but the anniversaries of so many others in our community who also celebrated big birthdays in 2024. What a night it was! Looking ahead to 2025, my 20th year with the magazine, I am excited to helm this letter, a space thoughtfully crafted by our Editor-at-Large Andrea Naversen for nearly 19 years. Rest assured, Andrea isn't going anywhere — she'll continue to share the stories we love including her travel, home, fashion, and award-winning "At Home With" features. She has been a guiding light for our magazine since 2006, and over the years, Publisher Bob Stefanko has marveled at how fortunate we are that Andrea formed our editorial tone with a dedication to seeking out the people and organizations making a difference in San Diego. And she truly walks the walk. A pillar of our community, Andrea has chaired and served on numerous charitable committees and continues to be a leader who inspires. I'm certain she had a role in nominating me to chair e Country Friends' prestigious Art of Fashion in 2011, which she chaired in 2010 and 2014 and where this photo was taken in 2011, and soon after I joined her on the nonprofit's Board of Directors. To this day, we continue to co-chair the organization's PR efforts. Our January issue, with its themes of mindfulness and renewal, is sure to inspire you to book your next getaway. Travel Editor Elizabeth Hansen ventures to San Miguel de Allende in Central Mexico for a dose of cuisine, culture, and architecture. Contributor Ron Donoho spa hops for some R&R in Scottsdale, Arizona, and Andrea discovers the progress made on Maui more than a year after wildfires devastated the island. She also highlights Balboa Park's Botanical Building, which is nearly restored to its former glory. ranchandcoast.com 10 JANUARY 2025 RANCH & COAST MAGAZINE Andrea Naversen and Mia Park at the Art of Fashion in 2011
