Beyond their physical structures, our homes are the spaces in which dreams are built, memories are made, and families grow. A native of Cardiff-by-the-Sea, I cherished growing up in this seaside town. But it was only when I left for the hustle and bustle of UCLA that I truly realized how special Cardiff is. ere were periods of time when I'd drive home every weekend, rolling down the windows as I exited the 5 at Birmingham Drive to breathe in the sea air. I'd sit on the deck and take in the ocean, grateful to slow down and simply "be." So, it brings me joy that this charming community is being celebrated in these pages. Veteran journalist Gillian Flynn, an aesthete with an expert lens into the worlds of home design, real estate, and art, has joined our team and highlights the work of Cardiff-based architect/developer Brett Farrow, whose approach to design is modern, efficient, and natural. Editor-at-Large Andrea Naversen explores the Rancho Santa Fe Covenant sanctuary of Melinda Davala Sarkis and husband Craig Stockmal.
