ranchandcoast.com 30 FEBRUARY 2025 RANCH & COAST MAGAZINE Pairings with a Purpose FEBRUARY 27 | CALLIE For the second year, Callie owners Travis and Mia Swikard are shutting down the restaurant to the public to host a Pairings with a Purpose Dinner Party benefiting Feeding San Diego. The evening will feature a four- course wine pairing dinner from Chef Travis himself, showcasing pairings by Callie's lead sommelier, Tracy Latimer. Proceeds from the evening will provide sustaining support for the hunger-relief nonprofit's School Pantry Program, which brings nutritious food directly to where families with children already gather: their local schools. By providing free, fresh produce and pantry staples, the program helps close the financial gap for families to ensure kids have the healthy food they need to thrive for nights and weekends at home. bit.ly/pairingsatcallie Go Red for Women Luncheon FEBRUARY 28 | PARADISE POINT RESORT & SPA The American Heart Association San Diego will present its Go Red for Women Luncheon under the direction of event chair Louise Brandy, whose work with the organization began more than 20 years ago when her now-late husband, Mycle, survived four strokes, and Brandy was his caretaker. According to the American Heart Association, those caring for a loved one with heart disease or someone recovering from a cardiac event may feel too busy to care for themselves. Making sure caretakers are also focusing on their personal health is something Brandy is passionate about. "I was inspired to chair Go Red for Women this year because heart disease continues to impact so many women in our community," she says. "As women, we often put others first. Through Go Red for Women, the American Heart Association encourages us to prioritize our own heart health." bit.ly/3C9vC2r Women in Blue APRIL 22 | HILTON SAN DIEGO BAYFRONT The San Diego Police Foundation will convene regional business and community leaders to elevate awareness of the importance of increased gender diversity in policing. The 14th annual Women in Blue Luncheon, themed "Kaleidoscope," will honor San Diego Police Department Detective Sergeant Brigitta Belz, Officer Torrie Albini, and Associate Management Analyst Martha Carranza. This year's theme celebrates the multifaceted impact of women in public safety as they build trust, create connections, and strengthen communities. "The needle is moving," says Sara Napoli, President and CEO of the San Diego Police Foundation. "Since the inception of the Women in Blue Initiative, SDPD has increased the number of females sworn to nearly 17% and as a result, exceeds the national average of 12%. Yet, more effort and awareness are needed to achieve gender parity as police departments operate best when they reflect the communities they serve." Luncheon proceeds will propel the mission of the San Diego Police Foundation, which includes support for SDPD's peer mentoring program, the Women's Leadership Conference, efforts to recruit more females to the ranks of SDPD, as well as scholarships to empower rising female officers and inspire the next generation of women in blue. 619.232.2130, sdpolicefoundation.org/event/women-in-blue-2025 Susan G.
