fill your charitable social planner. Whether your heart leans toward at-risk youth, our military and veteran community, animals, education, medical research, or those with disabilities, there's an event in here that's sure to fit your giving goals. During a recent coffee meeting with a philanthropic leader, we discussed the notion that the nonprofit world is perhaps the only industry for which the ultimate goal is for the organization to no longer need to exist. Until then, we'll continue to shine the light on those making a lasting difference in our community. Letter from the Editor O n February 3 at e Country Friends Consignment Shop in Rancho Santa Fe, Board President Janean Stripe announced grants of more than $300,000 to 34 charities. " is was our opportunity to showcase the 'why' behind what we do," noted Stripe. " e 'why' is helping those organizations, our chosen charities, which are making an impact in our community and helping those in need." R&C Editor- at-Large Andrea Naversen and I continue to serve on the nonprofit's board of directors, and we are looking forward to a fashion luncheon at Mille Fleurs on March 20 (detailed on page 23) where an opportunity drawing will feature the blue zircon and diamond earrings donated by John Matty Co. featured here. R&C Publisher Bob Stefanko, Andrea Naversen, and I also attended the 116th Anniversary Charity Ball at the Hotel del Coronado (see our photographic recap on pages 83-84). Chaired by Micki Olin with Arlene Esgate serving as co-chair, this year's ball — San Diego's oldest philanthropic event — raised funds to ensure Rady Children's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit continues to provide the highest level of comprehensive, innovative, and compassionate care for critically ill or injured young patients in their time of greatest need. Encompassing an impressive 10,000 organizations in total who make it their business to serve those in need, San Diego's philanthropic network is vast and varied. To expand upon our commitment to supporting the nonprofit community, we've launched Ranch & Coast's inaugural Charitable Datebook in this issue. Our 18-page guide provides a calendar of events from this month through early 2026 that serves as a resource as you look to Mia Park, Editor-in-Chief The Art Alive Premiere Dinner at The San Diego Museum of Art (photographed here in 2023) opens Art Alive, the museum's signature annual four-day fundraiser.
