Without getting lost in geography semantics, Edgewood Tahoe Resort is on the Nevada side of the state line. at means we're proximal to several casinos (Harrah's, Harvey's, Golden Nugget, and others). Wolf by Vanderpump is inside Harvey's. Reservations are recommended but on a slowish Wednesday night we scored a walk-in table. e decor is wildly ostentatious, but Lisa's Lobster Cobb Salad is decadently delicious. e main street in town is small but includes more than a few quaint, quite good eateries. For breakfast, find your way to Driftwood Cafe and scan their long list of creative breakfast omelets. Our gang heartily enjoys Base Camp Pizza Co., and not just because we're famished after our final winterland foray: snowmobiling. Now, after failing on the ice-skating rink on property at Edgewood (let's spare the details), and barely-sort-of passing the ski test on Heavenly Mountain, snowmobiling is my last chance to excel at a winter activity. Lake Tahoe Adventures sends a bus to bring guests to Hope Valley in Alpine County, California. We pair up on two-person Ski-Doo snowmobiles. We rev off into the unspoiled backcountry of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. Passing snow-covered pine trees along a 30-mile course, at one point we touch 40 miles per hour. Our guide Paul stops us a few times for majestic, unspoiled photo ops. In between selfies of snow-covered mountains, he notes a fun fact: ree movies have been filmed out here: Misery, Die Hard 2, and Top Gun: Maverick. Turns out driving a snowmobile primarily requires constant concentration. I can still pass a mental endurance test. e trick is getting Kathy Bates, Bruce Willis, and Tom Cruise out of your head. And focusing on the truly great adventures available in and around South Lake Tahoe. edgewoodtahoe.com TOP, MIDDLE Lake Tahoe is the largest high-altitude lake in North America and the second deepest in the United States ABOVE The resort's Brooks' Bar & Deck services the golf course with gastropub fare << ranchandcoast.com 76 MARCH 2025 RANCH & COAST MAGAZINE MIDDLE: PHOTO BY RON DONOHO ALL OTHER PHOTOGRAPHY COURTESY EDGEWOOD TAHOE RESORT
