On the Earth Day front, in this issue, Managing Editor Deanna Murphy highlights I Love A Clean San Diego's initiatives including the upcoming Creek to Bay cleanup, along with a range of other ways to honor and support our environment. To help you prepare for all the upcoming spring events, this issue is also filled with style inspiration. Shot on location at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa, which last year underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation, our fashion feature previews the latest looks for the season. In addition, Editor-at-Large Andrea Naversen shares news of Saks Fifth Avenue's new Fifth Avenue Club at Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa, along with other debuts in North County as well as at Fashion Valley. However you choose to fill your calendar this month, we wish you happiness, good health, and an abundance of SoCal sunshine. My family and I enjoy riding our bikes down to East Coast Pizza, and morning walks on the coast are enhanced when those sun-colored flowers perfectly contrast the bright blue ocean beyond. April also means that the San Diego events calendar is in full swing, with seasonal highlights including the return of e San Diego Museum of Art's Art Alive, the La Jolla Concours d'Elegance for automobile aficionados, and e Lodge at Torrey Pines' epicurean event Celebrate the Craft. And this year, they all fall on the same weekend! Speaking of juggling a busy schedule, each April I reflect on 2015 when I thought I was so strategic in selecting our daughter's birthday — she was breech — for the morning right after our press deadline. My husband, Justin, called me at the office the evening before to urge me to come home so we could rest up for the early morning call time. I figured if we had Isabella right after our team put the magazine on press, it would allow more time for me to recover and prepare for the next issue. But what I didn't realize was that for the next 18 years I'd be planning and putting on her birthday party in the peak of our press schedule. But, in the end, her Earth Day birthday does perfectly fit our mindful animal lover.
