I t's wild to think that this is our 20th annual Best of Ranch & Coast issue. I remember those early years, when physical ballots were inserted into the magazine and mailed back to us to be — gasp! — manually tabulated. ankfully, technology has evolved tremendously over the decades. Sharing the results of our Readers' Choice Poll is always an exciting moment because it represents a celebration of excellence within our San Diego community. We recognize leaders — as chosen by the experts, our readers — across a vast array of industry categories, highlighting everything from healthcare to home design, fashion to financial planning, and so much more. ere are a handful of honorees who've made the list year after year, which speaks to their expertise and longevity. And when a new leader gains recognition, we all appreciate the opportunity to learn about another worthy contender. Highlighting the best of San Diego also includes shining the light on philanthropy, an essential element in the fabric of any community. Editor-at-Large Andrea Naversen connects with Irwin Jacobs to discuss e Joan and Irwin Jacobs Performing Arts Center at Arts District Liberty Station, affectionally nicknamed "e Joan" in honor of Jacobs' late wife. Once known as Building 178 at the former Naval Training Center, e Joan offers two state-of-the art performance spaces and serves as the new home of Cygnet eatre. Managing Editor Deanna Murphy also connects with Angel Kleinbub and her son Eric to share the ways in which the Kraemer Endowment Foundation empowers St. Madeleine Sophie's Center to continue its mission of supporting individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. Contributing Editor Bill Abrams brings us inside the Navy SEAL Museum San Diego, officially opening on October 4, which will offer unparalleled access and insight into the secretive world of the best of the best, our U.S. Navy SEALs. On the home design front, Contributing Editor Gillian Flynn explores what can happen when industry experts join forces, resulting in the transformation of a coastal Leucadia residence. Interior designer Ali Cote of Ali Cote Interiors teamed up with her neighbors, builder Jeff Maitner of Halcyon Trade Building and architect Logan Anderson of Marcela & Logan, to create an open-concept, indoor/outdoor design that blends home, neighborhood, and everyday life. As you look to fill your October calendar, we at Ranch & Coast are especially looking forward to two charitable events we are deeply involved in: the 11th Annual Taste of Rancho Santa Fe on October 5 in support of Rancho Santa Fe Rotary, and a fashion show at Flower Hill Promenade on October 16 to benefit Rady Children's Health. We hope you'll join us!
