I 'm writing this month's letter from the final basecamp of the tenth annual Rebelle Rally, the first women's off-road navigation rally raid in the United States. It's an honor to play a small part in the inspiring automotive event since its inception, and this year's finale gala was truly one for the books. Of note, Karen Hoehn and Dana Saxten were recognized as the only team that stuck together and competed in all ten years of the Rebelle. It reminded me that honoring their legacy celebrates their stories, values, and achievements that will inspire future Rebelles to carry their vision forward into the future. Along the milestone front, last year, Ranch & Coast celebrated our 60th anniversary. To mark the occasion, we dedicated our November 2024 issue to honoring others within our San Diego community also commemorating notable anniversaries of their own, and we hosted a grand party at the Belly Up. It felt like a warm hug with the organizations and institutions we highlight within our pages, and we decided to keep the tradition going this year by showcasing those with significant birthdays in 2025. e biggest anniversary of all is that of the United States Navy and the Marine Corps, which are both celebrating 250 years. ey're hosting a joint celebration on Broadway Pier on November 6, from 5 to 9pm, and all are invited. Eighty years ago, the USS Midway was commissioned by the Navy, and it was the largest warship in existence until 1955. Father Joe's Villages and the San Diego Blood Bank are both marking 75 years of transforming lives here in San Diego, and it's been 70 years since Jonas Salk's polio vaccine changed the course of public health. On the design front, Contributing Editor Gillian Flynn showcases 50 years of architecture by Del Mar-based PHOTO BY TIM HARDY firm Batter Kay, whose award-winning portfolio includes hundreds of houses in San Diego, Napa Valley, Arizona, Connecticut, and beyond. In our Seen pages, we highlight e Old Globe 90th Anniversary Celebration, as well as the 11th Annual Taste of Rancho Santa Fe, a beautiful union of community and philanthropy on the lawns of e Inn at Rancho Santa Fe. Publisher Bob Stefanko and I (pictured here at the Taste) were honored to return as co-chairs of the event which broke fundraising records to benefit Rancho Santa Fe Rotary and its mission of giving back to those in need. It's a tradition we are honored to be a part of. Letter from the Editor Mia Park, Editor-in-Chief Created to host the 1915 Panama- California Exposition, Balboa Park was named in honor of explorer Vasco Núñez de Balboa.
