e vivacious Campbell bustled about, offering our crew cold drinks on this sweltering day, as Mason set up his camera and gear for the photoshoot. A retired real estate agent, Campbell is a talented artist whose many portraits grace a hallway. She calls them "Keith's and My Extraordinary Adventures," portraits which, like postcards, catalog the couple's travels over the years from Cabo to Lake Como, New York City to Napa, Paso Robles to Paris, and even to a Home Depot in San Diego (the latter during the pandemic). In the well-appointed kitchen, a large sign over the cabinets reads "It's a Wonderful Life," after the couple's favorite movie starring Jimmy Stewart. Family photos fill the bookshelves, and a large family portrait hangs above the expansive dining table. e couple has hosted many festive gatherings of family and friends over the decades. But one seat at the table has been empty for the past three years. Daughter Allison "Allie" Campbell Fomon died from Stage IV metastatic pancreatic cancer in August 2023. She was just 41 years old. A graduate of the University of Southern California and a San Diego County deputy district attorney, Allie had a daughter and a son with her husband, Brad Fomon. "Pancreatic cancer is a devastating disease that is often not diagnosed until it has already spread to other organs, when treatment options are very limited," Campbell explained. Allie had few symptoms, so by the time she was diagnosed, it was too late to save her.
