On May 4, from 10-11am, discover the beauty of San Elijo Lagoon, where fresh water and saltwater meet and mix, migratory and resident birds share a sanctuary, and many animals find a home. This guided tour will inspire all to watch and listen for various birds that rest in — and fly across — the salt marsh and mudflats. The Nature Center Loop Trail is accessible, providing fun for all. Volunteer Linda Jones leads this nature experience. On May 5, Family Fun Day will feature hands-on activities, from craft-making to animal encounters. Then, on May 18, volunteers will come together to help restore precious habitats within San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve and the surrounding areas. From removing invasive plants to helping grow native plants indigenous to the area, San Diegans are invited to help nature thrive, which benefits wildlife and our communities. naturecollective.org ranchandcoast.com 48 MAY 2024 RANCH & COAST MAGAZINE
