When ordinary is not the goal, interior designer Susan Spath, proprietor of Kern &
Co., lets her creative designs flourish. A defining feature of a recent dining room
she designed (photographed here) is the whimsical handcrafted wallpaper
encompassing the room. Combining traditional vintage wood beams and modern
wide plank oak flooring gives the space a balanced transitional style. Guests are
invited to relax and enjoy conversing at the table boasting a piano black finish,
surrounded by comfy dining chairs upholstered in a beautiful boucle fabric. At the
head of the table are settees in coral velvet that add a playful pop of color. Other
notable aspects include Swarovski crystal lighting, custom window treatments, a
