Shark Summer JULY 5-AUGUST 10 | BIRCH AQUARIUM This summer, learn more about the sometimes mysterious, sometimes misunderstood, but always fascinating world of sharks during Birch Aquarium's Shark Summer program. Created for guests of all ages, the program celebrates the critical role that sharks play in our ecosystem while spotlighting the important conservation efforts and research at the aquarium and beyond that are dedicated to protecting these important creatures. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at noon, join educators to learn more about their finned residents during their feeding sessions, and Thursday evenings welcome Shark Summer Sunsets, featuring trivia nights, pop-up science, and shark-themed snacks and drinks from Blue Wave Bistro. From July 12 to 14, additional activities are planned in honor of Shark and Ray Awareness Day, including opportunities to meet the aquarium's experts and learn more about their work to care for their sharks and rays. All activities are included with the cost of general admission. See the aquarium's website for the daily schedule of experiences, activities, feeding and talks, and more to plan your visit. aquarium.ucsd.edu/events/shark-summer Birch Aquarium's iconic "shark head" photo op is a popular spot for guests during Shark Summer PHOTO COURTESY OF BIRCH AQUARIUM MEOW Sinatra is a 10-year-old Domestic Short Hair cat who thrives in peaceful spaces with patient people who understand that good things (like trust) take time to build.
