Nice Guy of the Year Gala e 42nd annual Nice Guy of the Year Gala honored Rancho Santa Fe resident Steve Fisher, who retired in 2017 as San Diego State University's all-time-winningest basketball coach. e San Diego Nice Guys is a nonprofit that offers one-time assistance to those who need it due to an unforeseen circumstance in their lives. Each year, the organization recognizes a local community leader who has given their time, money, and support to help San Diegans improve their lives. Outside on Island Avenue, gala guests were able to ride on a 40-foot lighted Ferris wheel, while other highlights included carnival games, karaoke, and dancing the night away to live music by '80s band Betamaxx.
