Healthy Aging Conference APRIL 21 FAIRBANKS RANCH COUNTRY CLUB The Rancho Santa Fe Senior Center presents the 8th annual Healthy Aging Conference, featuring dynamic speakers, lunch, the opportunity to explore senior resources, and prizes. Emcee for the day is Richard Lederer, PhD, renowned author, speaker, and columnist. Conference speakers include Deborah Szekely, a 100-year-old health and wellness legend and author; Joseph Weiss, MD, a clinical professor of medicine in the division of gastroenterology; and Peter Bolland, MA, professor of philosophy and humanities at Southwestern College. The cost to register is $40 and includes lunch. This Norwegian Forest Cat loves people and getting lots of attention. Belle was diagnosed with diabetes in the shelter but has gotten her health under control thanks to a daily medication and nutrition routine. You can adopt her at SDHS' Oceanside Campus. Adoption fee: $30 MEOW Leo is a handsome 6-month-old Domestic Short Hair blend who, uniquely, has extra toe beans to make him the most special kitten. He may be a bit shy at first, but once he warms up to you and his surroundings, he is such a cuddle bug! Adoption fee: $145 MEOWLychee is a 7-year-old, 13-pound, Domestic Short Hair cat. He was picked up as a stray in January before being transferred to RCHS from a rescue partner in Riverside County through FOCAS. He's a very social cat — when his kennel door opens, he walks out with confidence to greet everyone, human or feline. Adoption fee: $100 WOOF Melvin is a 2-year-old Lab blend who spreads joy to everyone he meets. He's very smart, and since working with the Center's trainers, has become confident and independent. Melvin would love a home with a yard, a family to take him on long walks, and a dog sibling. Adoption fee: $42 WOOF Pepper is a 1-year-old, 26-pound Terrier mix who was transferred to RCHS from a rescue partner in the Imperial Valley through FOCAS (Friends of County Animal Shelters). Her adopting family will need to be patient and give her lots of positive reinforcement.
