An elegant evening enlivened by dazzling décor and swanky style, this year's Silver Soirée is themed "'Tails' of the Roaring Twenties!" Guests are invited to journey to the Jazz Age for a party with a purpose designed to shine a spotlight on SDPF's K9 Crimefighter Campaign, which funds police service dogs for America's Finest K9 Unit. For the past 20 years, every police service dog at the San Diego Police Department has been purchased with funds donated by community members through the San Diego Police Foundation. These highly trained canines safeguard public events, find missing persons, locate evidence, de-escalate dangerous situations, prevent shootings, and preserve life. supportk9.org 8th Annual Surf for CF SEPTEMBER 9 | LA JOLLA SHORES Surf for CF is a fun and meaningful way to harness the connection between surfing and the drive for a cure for cystic fibrosis, a progressive genetic condition that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. In the early 2000s, doctors in Australia discovered a link between the salt water and lung health in their CF patients who surfed, leading to the development of a new treatment called hypertonic saline that's now used by thousands of people with CF worldwide. This inspired a local family to create the country's first Surf for CF event in 2016, shortly after their newborn was diagnosed with the disease. The annual event features surf lessons for people living with CF and an open-registration team surf contest on foam boards. All funds raised benefit the CF Foundation's ongoing research for treatment and ultimately, a cure. Sponsorships, surfers, and spectators are welcome. surfforcf.org Sharp HospiceCare Benefit Regatta AUGUST 25-26 | HOTEL DEL CORONADO & CORONADO YACHT CLUB The annual Sharp HospiceCare Benefit Dinner and Regatta celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. The event kicks off Friday evening with a pre-race dinner and silent auction, followed by all-day festivities on Saturday, when guests will board yachts and cruise along the racecourse for a breathtaking view of the regatta and San Diego Bay. The 2023 Regatta beneficiary is Sharp HospiceCare's Homes for Hospice campaign, which raises money to build and maintain residential hospice homes in San Diego County. The homes offer a unique environment for patients with a life-limiting illness, meeting their needs in a comfortable home setting. Leading the effort as event co-chairs are Kathy Bongiovanni of Seal Electric and Sherri Summers of EC Constructors. 619.740.4316, grossmontfoundation.ejoinme.org/regatta2023 Officer Dani Resch and Walker with a gala guest
