The North County-based Max Vedder Land Design is encouraging San Diegans to embrace more native plants, previously snubbed because they aren't green all year. "People are starting to like the wild look more," he says. Exhibit A: The home of Al Corti, the former Del Mar mayor, who commissioned beloved Solana Beach-based architect Brian Church with winning results. The project earned an AIA award.
