S eptember holds special meaning for us here at Ranch & Coast Magazine. When Publisher Bob Stefanko purchased the magazine back in 1998, he fondly recalls that the first phone call he received was from the ladies of e Country Friends, inviting him to lunch to support him in his new role. Bob admits he quickly fell in love with the nonprofit organization, admiring their charitable mission and sense of community, and it's a relationship that flourishes to this day. In September 2005, when I moved back home to North County from Los Angeles to join the magazine, my first day on the job was to cover e Country Friends Art of Fashion runway show and luncheon with Bob. inking "fall fashion," I wore a wool suit to the mid-September event at e Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, sweating — and smiling — my way through the day. Ever since, I've been sure to dress accordingly for this beautiful (albeit always warm) day of fashion and philanthropy. It's only fitting, then, that our September issue has long been dedicated to fall fashion and Rancho Santa Fe. e Art of Fashion, now in its 21st year of partnership with the renowned shopping destination South Coast Plaza, is set to take place at e Inn on September 11. For our cover shoot and fashion feature, we preview looks by runway partners paired with jewelry by John Matty Co. and the captivating paintings of Rancho Santa Fe-based artist Jay Johansen — both of whom have generously donated to this year's live auction at the event. Also in this issue, Editor-at-Large Andrea Naversen, who co-chaired the Art of Fashion in both 2010 and 2014 and continues to serve on the nonprofit's board of directors, introduces us to three Rancho Santa Fe movers and shakers who are contributing to this community's enduring legacy: Andrew Archibald, the new managing director of e Inn at Rancho Santa Fe; Yvette Letourneau, executive director and consignment manager of e Country Friends; and Ryan Garrett, founder and principal at RCG Art Advisory. In "Made You Look," Contributing Editor Gillian Flynn steps inside Rancho Santa Fe's Oolong Gallery, which specializes in painting and sculpture from a compelling mix of artists from San Diego, Los Angeles, Tijuana, New York, and Europe. And in "Ohana in the Bag," Managing Deanna Murphy connects with Aloha Collection's co-founders Rachael Leina'ala Soares and Heather Aiu, whose Encinitas-based brand channels the spirit of the Hawaiian Islands in their iconic line of bags and accessories. Finally, don't forget — tickets for the 11th Annual Taste of Rancho Santa Fe, taking place on October 5 in support of the Rancho Santa Fe Rotary Foundation, are on sale now. It always sells out, so please don't delay. is year's event is shaping up to be the best yet. Letter from the Editor Mia Park, Editor-in-Chief Dress, Monique Lhuillier, South Coast Plaza.
