A s I write this letter, it's quite literally the day I celebrate my 21st year here at Ranch & Coast Magazine. at's 252 issues dedicated to spotlighting the best of San Diego. It's a commitment we make year-round, but it takes center stage in our annual Best of Ranch & Coast issue. Excellence takes many forms. It can be found in a restaurant that continues to raise the bar, a designer whose work transforms the way we live, a physician advancing care, or a nonprofit making an extraordinary difference in our community. Each October, Best of Ranch & Coast gives us the opportunity to recognize that excellence throughout our region — and the people and places behind it. At the heart of the issue are the results of our annual Readers' Choice Poll. We invite our knowledgeable and discerning readers to weigh in on their favorites across a wide range of categories, from dining, design, and fashion to healthcare, financial services, beauty, wellness, and more. Some familiar names return year after year, a testament to the loyalty and confidence they've earned, while newcomers give us the opportunity to discover standouts making their mark in our community. But our readers aren't the only ones weighing in. Our editors spend the year meeting fascinating people, attending events, discovering new places, and keeping an eye on what's noteworthy in San Diego. In this issue, we include some Editor's Picks of our own, highlighting those we believe deserve a little extra attention. For instance, Chef William Bradley represents culinary excellence at its highest level, while this month's Celebrate the Craft honors the chefs, growers, and producers behind our region's vibrant culinary culture. And San Diego Humane Society reminds us that excellence can also be defined by service and compassion. at spirit of service extends to "Anchored For Good," in which Contributing Editor Bill Abrams introduces us to Breen Hardin, who channeled her family's deeply personal experience with cancer into a lifeline for other military aviation families navigating challenges she knows all too well. After more than two decades of Best of Ranch & Coast, one thing hasn't changed: San Diego continues to give us an extraordinary amount to celebrate. And while no list could ever capture it all, we hope this issue introduces you to a few new favorites while giving some well-deserved recognition to those you already know and love.
