The evening's festivities will include amazing bites prepared by Continental Catering, a hosted premium bar, art and live auctions, and a video DJ with a 1970s music festival experience. Honorary chairs are Jackie Helm and Leah Higgins. The National CHEERS Foundation was established in 2012 by a group of caring professionals and community leaders in La Jolla. Through its annual gala and "joie de vivre" grant program, the foundation raises funds to support medical research and health institutions, health advocacy groups, and outreach programs, and has developed a resource and educational program that offers women the ability to empower themselves. nationalcheersfoundation.org Champions of Scouting Celebration SEPTEMBER 24 | USS MIDWAY The San Diego-Imperial Council, Boy Scouts of America (SDIC) will pay tribute to civic leader Jerry Sanders at its annual Champions of Scouting Celebration. For more than five decades, Sanders has stepped up to make San Diego a better place for everyone as the city's chief of police, mayor, and leader of several local organizations, including the United Way and, most recently, the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce. "Jerry Sanders has done as much for San Diego as anyone," says Sean Roy, SDIC Director. "From making San Diego safer, to building stronger families and communities, to mentoring the next generation of leaders, to expanding opportunities for business, Jerry has made a profound impact on our entire region." The annual SDIC Champions of Scouting event honors San Diego community leaders who recognize and support the positive impacts resulting from its youth leadership and community service programs. 2022cos.givesmart.com Jerry Sanders Leah Higgins and Jackie Helm Katherine Brown, Molly Cartmill, Barbara Brown, and John Cartmill @ranchandcoast ranchandcoast.com 42 SEPTEMBER 2022 RANCH & COAST MAGAZINE
