WE funding enables women entrepreneurs to build their workplace and life skills, obtain small business loans, and launch sustainable income-generating enterprises that serve their families, villages, and communities. 619.818.9558, womenempowerment.org/fall-fundraiser San Diego Symphony Gala OCTOBER 1 | THE RADY SHELL AT JACOBS PARK The San Diego Symphony 2022 gala will take place on the Symphony's opening night of its 2022-2023 Jacobs Masterworks Season, when the orchestra will perform Verdi's masterful Requiem, conducted by Music Director Rafael Payare and featuring the San Diego Master Chorale alongside world-renowned opera singers Leah Crocetto, Jennifer Johnson Cano, Limmie Pulliam, and Aleksey Bogdanov. The theme for the evening is inspired by the birthplace of Verdi, Le Roncole, with accents of Italian sophistication and decadence. At 5:30pm, gala guests will be welcomed with a cocktail reception in the side-stage donor lounges for mingling prior to the concert. Following the performance, an elaborately curated menu of Italian delights will be served for the official gala dinner, held on The Rady Shell's upper lawn terrace and prepared by celebrity chef Richard Blais' talented team. Gala co-chairs are Una Davis and Jack McGrory, Colette and Ivor Royston, and Karen and Kit Sickels, with Joan and Irwin Jacobs named honorary chairs. sandiegosymphony.org/gala 2022 Del Mar Country Club Golf Tournament and Dinner Gala OCTOBER 1 | DEL MAR COUNTRY CLUB The Del Mar Country Club Golf Tournament and Dinner Gala returns to support our special operations forces and their fellow warriors and families. Featuring a star- studded speaker lineup and an incredible bucket list auction, the event looks to top the 2021 event that raised more than $1.6 million. Michèle Flournoy, former United States Under Secretary of Defense, will serve as the keynote speaker. Flournoy will be joined on the dais by Michael MacKay, a retired U.S. Marine Corps Critical Skills Operator (Marine Raider) who is currently serving as the National Security Advisor to the Ranking Member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense. Rounding out the speakers is retired Navy SEAL and Vice Admiral Bob Harward. A national security expert now working in the private sector, Harward served on the National Security Council for the Bush administration and commissioned the National Counterterrorism Center.
