Operation Game On Golf Classic SEPTEMBER 11 | FAIRBANKS RANCH COUNTRY CLUB The 15th Annual Operation Game On Golf Classic returns to Fairbanks Ranch Country Club to raise funds to support our combat-injured troops. The day's festivities will include an opening ceremony, golf tournament, food stations throughout the course, music, beverages, banquet, live auction, and opportunity prizes. Founded in 2008 by Tony Perez, Operation Game On offers combat-injured service members a special introduction to golf that begins with eight weeks of lessons from a certified PGA golf instructor followed by a fitting session at The Kingdom, TaylorMade's premium club-fitting experience once reserved for professionals. operationgameon.org 40th Annual Firefighters & Friends Celebrity Waiters Luncheon SEPTEMBER 22 | CORONADO ISLAND MARRIOTT RESORT & SPA For the 40th year, United Cerebral Palsy of San Diego County presents this popular event featuring celebrities, local personalities, and celebrity lookalikes in a beautiful outdoor setting with views of San Diego Bay and Coronado Bridge. Sponsored by and starring the men and women of San Diego City Firefighters Local 145, the day includes silent and live auctions, a donation drawing, and lunch prepared by the Coronado Island Marriott culinary team. Among the celebrities scheduled to appear this year is Christopher Knight, best known for his role as Peter Brady from The Brady Bunch. All proceeds support UCP San Diego's programs and services that assist San Diegans with cerebral palsy and other disabilities including employment and education services and tools, assistive technology, family support, and more. ucpsd.org Celebration of Second Chances SEPTEMBER 23 | OMNI LA COSTA RESORT & SPA NBC 7 Meteorologist Sheena Parveen will guide animal lovers through a "totally tubular" celebration in support of Rancho Coastal Humane Society at the nonprofit's gala, this year titled "Bark to the Future." At the event's entrance, guests will pass a DeLorean similar to the car Doc Brown drove in Back to the Future, and the party kicks into high gear inside with two artists creating caricatures of people and their pets. There will be a 1980s-style video arcade and outdoor lawn games. As guests enjoy music from a live band and a DJ spinning stacks of wax and classic hits, they will have an opportunity to place personal items in a time capsule that will be opened at a future Celebration of Second Chances (perhaps at Bark to the Future Part II in 2033?). The event will feature dogs available for adoption early in the evening, with trained dogs from Rancho Coastal Humane Society's Pet Assisted Therapy program joining the festivities later. sdpets.org Urban Campout 2023: Adventures Await!
