By a Kid, for All Kids When it comes to understanding the onslaught of pressures and stressors that impact our kids' mental health on a daily basis, who knows better than a kid himself? That's why Carlsbad teen Colton (Cole) Fidelman decided to write a book: to help kids just like him. The 18-year-old author's book, The Teenage Guide to Success: The TICK TOCK Formula for Life, Relationships and Careers, which debuted in November 2023, offers advice on how to tackle some of the biggest issues that kids face, from depression and self-confidence issues to social media pressure and even family stability and sexual orientation. Tapping the wisdom and experience of those he respects, his approach became the eight principles that together create this title acronym TICK TOCK: Taming Social Media, Inspiring Hard Work, Choosing a Mentor, Knowing Your Struggles, Treasure Beyond Money, Owning Your Passion, Cultivating Relationships, and Knowledge Expansion. "The TICK TOCK formula illuminates the path that renowned entrepreneurs, athletes, and entertainers took to achieve a future filled with meaning, purpose, and empowerment on their own terms," says Fidelman. "I've had the privilege of learning from them to help prepare myself for a brighter, more fulfilling future." And now, the future of his readers, as well. colefidelman.com DEANNA MURPHY MEOW Scout is a 5-year-old, Domestic Short Hair cat and a sweet, shy bundle of love who just needs someone special to give him the cozy home he deserves.
