The evening's program will feature a fireside chat with Dr. Eric Topol, noted cardiologist, founder and director of the Scripps Research Translational Institute, and The New York Times bestselling author. The second fireside chat, guided by award-winning journalist Meryl Comer, will bring together Emma Willis and Mary Lou Falcone, who will discuss dementia from a caregivers' perspective. Proceeds benefit the Sophie's Gallery and Art Program in Downtown El Cajon, a space where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities can explore their creativity while working in a professional art environment alongside friends. The organization will host its first-ever Polar Plunge from 9am to 12pm, inviting participants to be "Freezin' for a Reason" — all to help grant life-changing wishes for local children battling critical illnesses. More than 150 participants are expected to brave the chilly waters in Mission Bay to raise awareness and funds for Make-A-Wish San Diego.
