2 5 Celebrating 25 years in 2026, Goodonya has grown from a modest deli in a Kearny Mesa office park into a beloved Encinitas organic eatery and market, championing clean ingredients, thoughtful sourcing, and transparency long before they became mainstream. Founder Kris Buchanan, a San Diego native and former Olympian, brings an athlete's discipline and a deeply personal commitment to wellness to the independently owned business. Her athletic background and subsequent health journey inspired a holistic approach to nutrition that became Goodonya's guiding philosophy. Beyond its organic, nature-inspired menu, the business has expanded to include a thoughtfully curated market and Goodonya Organic Hydration, a certified organic electrolyte powder now sold nationally. More recently, Goodonya has embraced a new chapter with Goodonya at Night, extending its longtime breakfast and lunch offerings into dinner service. Featuring Good Good Burgers, wine, and an expanded evening menu, the concept introduces a fresh dining experience while maintaining the same uncompromising standards for organic ingredients, quality, and transparency. As Goodonya celebrates this milestone, its evolution reflects Buchanan's enduring belief that what we put into our bodies matters — and that staying true to one's values while embracing change is a recipe for lasting success. M.P. 2 0 FACE (Foundation for Animal Care and Education) marks a remarkable milestone in addition to celebrating its 20th year: saving its 5,000th pet from economic euthanasia. Founded in 2006 by Rancho Santa Fe resident Cini Robb alongside veterinarians and concerned community members, the San Diego nonprofit was established to ensure no beloved family pet loses its life because its owner cannot afford critical veterinary care. rough its Save-A-Life program, FACE provides financial assistance for emergency and life-saving treatments, working alongside veterinary hospital partners throughout San Diego County. Its impact extends beyond veterinary assistance through community outreach programs providing pet food and essential supplies, as well as creative fundraising initiatives including its Wag N' Purr resale boutique. Supported by donations, planned giving, and contributions of goods, FACE continues to preserve the irreplaceable bond between people and their pets, proving that compassion and community generosity can make a life-changing difference.
