Attend benefits Symphony at Salk AUGUST 19 | SALK INSTITUTE The Salk Institute will celebrate 27 years of Symphony at Salk, its premier annual fundraiser and concert under the stars, with the breathtaking sounds of the San Diego Symphony and guest performer Jennifer Hudson, a two-time Grammy Award-winning recording artist, Academy Award-winning actress, and Tony and Emmy Award-winning producer. The unique experience includes a champagne reception and gourmet dinner along with immersive entertainment set in the ambiance of the Louis Kahn-designed architectural landmark overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Event proceeds help drive the Salk Institute's wide-ranging scientific inquiries that have yielded more than 60 years of life-changing discoveries. The Gala takes inspiration from MCASD's upcoming exhibition Kelly Akashi: Formations, which represents the artist's exploration of the fleeting moment, encouraging people to slow down, reflect on the present, and take joy in it. Following an immersive dinner experience, guests are invited to join The After Party that features indulgent late-night snacks and curated cocktails, musical performances and interactive art, and a vibrant dance floor. The organization's 23 community-based sites across San Diego County offer a range of programs that inspire children and teens to lead healthy lifestyles, succeed academically, and develop positive character. An Evening of Changing Lives brings together nearly 700 donors and life changers to provide crucial support for BGCGSD, directly impacting the lives of 8,000+ young people in San Diego. Guests will sip on cocktails while taking in views of the San Diego Bay, enjoy a delicious three-course dinner, and bid on fantastic auction packages including a wine lover's getaway to Sonoma Valley. The night will be topped off with a live performance by Creedence Clearwater Revived. The event begins with a champagne reception sponsored by Linda Sansone & Associates featuring light bites from The French Gourmet and the popular photo lounge. The centerpiece of the event is a professionally produced runway show featuring the Fall/Winter collections of Oscar de la Renta, Lanvin, Max Mara, and Monique Lhuillier, to name a few, followed by a luncheon on The Inn's Croquet Lawn. A live auction includes fabulous experiences and items such as one-of-a-kind emerald cut blue topaz and diamond ear pendants with more than 38 carats of stones set in 18k gold designed by John Matty Co. An opportunity drawing highlights designer handbags, clothing, jewelry, and getaways.
