Jungle Jamboree Gala Meals on Wheels San Diego County held its largest fundraising event of the year, the Jungle Jamboree, in Liberty Station. A record $330,000 was raised and will cover the costs of 80,000 warm meals and friendly visits for the organization's senior clients. Each year, a new theme is chosen and many guests enjoy dressing in costume. e event also featured a chef 's challenge with local restaurants and caterers showcasing and competing for best appetizer. Next year's event, "Rio Carnival: A Samba Soiree," will be held on April 20 at e Prado in Balboa Park. Gala chair Linda Brandes invited guests to cocktails in the garden followed by a delectable dinner by chefs Jeffrey Strauss and Ron Oliver of Pamplemousse Grille and a lively auction with a shimmering after-party.
