The seven women recognized this year include: the late Yolanda López (Cultural Bridge Builder), a feminist, artist, activist and leader, educator, film producer, printmaker, and a Chicanx studies scholar; Raye Clendening (Empowerer), an educational leader, award-winning administrator, and co-founder of the North County African American Women's Association; Anne Evans (Empowerer), a trailblazing hotelier who has received many awards for civic leadership on boards and at UC San Diego; Anne S. Bautista, Esq. (Activist), Director of Legal Support and Strategy, Casa Cornelia Law Center; Andrea Naversen (Historian), award-winning documentarian, author, journalist, TV news anchor, and Ranch & Coast Magazine editor-at-large; Dr. Olga Diaz (Trailblazer), the first woman of color elected to the Escondido City Council and an outspoken civic leader on gender, racial, and ethnic social justice; and Dr. DJ Kuttin Kandi (Spirit of the Hall of Fame Award), hip hop DJ scholar, disabled, queer, Filipinx Pinay/Pinax American writer, poet, theater performer, educator, and community organizer.
