San Diego Humane Society (SDHS) is committed to creating a more humane world for animals and the people who love them. As an open-admission shelter and animal services provider for 13 local cities (including nine in North County), SDHS cares for more than 40,000 pets and wildlife each year — and supports thousands of pet families. In 2023, like many shelters across the country, SDHS reached record numbers of homeless pets in care.
