in excellence 2 0 2 4 Girl Scouts San Diego is the nonprofit organization dedicated to building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. GSSD serves more than 24,000 youth and adults in San Diego and Imperial counties, providing year-round activities, programs, and volunteer training. Carol Dedrich started her career as an officer in the army then transitioned to the nonprofit sector. As CEO of GSSD, her priorities include serving a geographically and economically diverse girl and volunteer base, leveraging community partnerships to better reach underserved communities, and building lasting relationships with supporters to serve more girls with relevant, critical programming in the areas of STEM, entrepreneurship, life skills, and the outdoors. Carol was recently named San Diego Business Journal's CEO of the Year in the Nonprofit Category (2023). She remains a champion of girls and women, committed to helping them develop a positive sense of well-being by learning to overcome challenges and forming healthy relationships.
