The striking showroom features soft pink Venetian plaster, marble and limestone floors, upholstered seating, and a Murano crystal chandelier. Also recently opened in Westfield UTC's luxury wing are Brunello Cucinelli, BVLGARI, and Zegna, with Chanel, Loro Piana, and Tom Ford soon to come. Despite a challenging economy for many, Flores says, "We have discovered that people are still shopping. San Diego is positioned a bit differently — casual luxury, if you will. We are anticipating a good turnout for the continued opening of the luxury collection." "We are noticing a trend in thoughtful purchases rather than impulse buying," adds Hermès' Mahady, "and that's a concept that aligns closely with our values. Our new boutique has been designed to deliver an immersive and personalized experience that reflects those expectations. San Diego has always been an important market for us, and we're excited to deepen our presence here. This location is not just an investment in a beautiful new space, but in the community and the clients wo have supported us over the years. We're proud to continue building on those roots while welcoming new clients into our next chapter." The center has also attracted high-end restaurants including Teleféric Barcelona, a Spanish restaurant serving tapas, paellas, sangria, wine, and cocktails. Guests can dine on the patio or inside the lively restaurant and bar where long tables encourage guests to mingle and share heaping platters of paella — rice with lobster and other seafood, or meat and veggies. Tapas include croquetas with Iberian ham or crab, patatas bravas, and wagyu empanadas. The restaurant's market offers Spanish wine, sangria, and all the ingredients to make paella at home. The brother and sister team of Xavi and Maria Padrosa welcomed the crowd at Teleféric Barcelona's grand opening, explaining that they are carrying on the culinary tradition begun by their parents, Soledad Urabayen and Ramon Pedrosa, who opened their first restaurant near Barcelona in 1992. The couple bought a toy cable car — teleferic in Catalan — which hung in their restaurant and became a source of fascination for diners. Years later, when son Xavi moved to the Bay Area on a professional tennis scholarship, he fell in love with the United States. He and his sister have since opened a string of restaurants from NorCal to SoCal. Downstairs, the popular Joey La Jolla is packing them in. CEO and Founder Jeff Fuller opened his first restaurant, a pizza-pasta house called Joey Tomato's, in Alberta, Canada, in 1992. The chain now has 35 locations in Canada, California, Texas, and Florida with Executive Chef Matthew Stowe, a Bravo Top Chef Canada winner, at the helm. Guests can sip a drink on the patio while awaiting a table in the bustling dining room. The extensive international menu is mind-boggling, from starters and shares including "Bang Bang" Chicken, miso-roasted mushrooms, mini short rib French dips, and a fire-roasted seafood tower. Still hungry? Additional offerings include salads and bowls, handhelds such as Baja fish tacos, and prime steaks, seafood, and pasta. Save room for Black Forest Baked Alaska and Crème Brûlée Cheesecake. Happy Hour "adult snack packs" include Chicken Tenders & Bubbles, Truffle Fries & Espresso Martini, and more. Also new is Chagee, a modern Japanese teahouse, and Chef Fei, a popular Chinese stir-fry restaurant chain, which opens its first U.S. location later this summer at Westfield UTC. For both food and fashion, the shopping destination is making waves.
