Restaurants 2024 Restaurant of the Year: Steak 48 Since its debut at Del Mar Highlands Town Center in October last year, Steak 48 continues to create a buzz among those seeking over-the- top luxury and impeccable service in a modern steakhouse setting. Its massive menu offers Miyazaki A5 Wagyu, 45-day dry-aged ribeye, generous bar pours, an exhibition kitchen and raw bar overflowing with an impressive supply of lobster tails, giant shrimp, oysters, and caviar, and the list goes on. But what also captures our hearts is Steak 48's commitment to philanthropy. Prior to officially opening its doors to the public, the restaurant hosted a week of charitable dinners in which five local nonprofits — The Country Friends, Las Patronas, Rancho Santa Fe Women's Fund, Voices for Children, and San Diego Opera — were gifted the opportunity to invite supporters to enjoy a sneak peek dining experience. Each charity was given a night to fill with reservations, meals were fully hosted by Steak 48, and all monies contributed by patrons were donated directly to each respective organization. In total, more than $200,000 was given to charity during that impactful (and delicious) week of giving. MIA PARK | PHOTO BY VINCENT KNAKAL
