Verise PHOTOGRAPHY COURTESY OF HOTEL SOLEA Stay in Bloom Hotel Solea blends botanical design, elevated dining, and Southern California style A new era of coastal hospitality has arrived in Carlsbad with the debut of Hotel Solea, a thoughtfully reimagined lifestyle destination. Formerly the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort, the newly transformed property joins Marriott Bonvoy's Autograph Collection, unveiling a boutique-inspired haven that blends botanical design with relaxed Southern California sophistication. Ideally timed with the spring bloom of e Flower Fields and the opening of Legoland's new Lego Galaxy Land — accessible via a private park entrance — the hotel is a vibrant hub for both leisure and celebration. Following a multimillion-dollar renovation, Hotel Solea's design draws inspiration from Carlsbad's coastal landscape, layering natural woods, woven textures, soft stone finishes, and lush greenery throughout. Sunlit interiors, expansive terraces, and curated artwork create a space that feels both elevated and welcoming — distinctly rooted in the region's effortless aesthetic. e experience continues across its 201 guest rooms and suites, many featuring private balconies with sweeping coastal or park views. Interiors balance modern comfort with refined details, including custom furnishings, spa-inspired bathrooms, and soft, nature-driven palettes that create a calm retreat. Resort-style amenities further enhance the stay, from a sun- drenched pool deck and landscaped outdoor spaces to a state-of- the-art fitness center and access to the neighboring Ocean Pearl Spa at e Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa. At the heart of the hotel is Verise, a new dining destination rooted in Italian tradition and California seasonality. Created by acclaimed Chef Riccardo Bilotta in collaboration with Executive Chef Jason Luke, the menu showcases handcrafted pastas, wood- fired pizzas, and regionally inspired dishes. Set among tranquil olive groves, the restaurant invites leisurely, al fresco dining, complemented by curated experiences such as wine dinners and cooking classes. Additional culinary offerings include poolside fare and Caffe Al Volo, serving artisanal coffee and fresh pastries, establishing Hotel Solea as both a neighborhood gathering place and a destination in its own right. thehotelsolea.com BY MIA PARK detour destinations ranchandcoast.com 78 APRIL 2026 RANCH & COAST MAGAZINE
