SOF SUPPORT FOUNDATION: PHOTO BY TONY STORTI OF ELEGANT PHOTO Attend benefits SOF Support Foundation Golf Tournament and Dinner Gala OCTOBER 5 | DEL MAR COUNTRY CLUB The SOF (Special Operations Forces) Support Foundation Golf Tournament and Dinner Gala is returning with a star-studded cast. Retired four-star general, former commander of U.S. and International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF) Afghanistan, and the former commander of the nation's premier military counter-terrorism force, Joint Special Operations Command, Stanley McChrystal will serve as the event's keynote speaker. McChrystal commanded a number of elite organizations during his career, including the 75th Ranger Regiment. In June 2009, President George W. Bush and the Secretary General of NATO appointed General McChrystal to be the Commander of U.S. Forces Afghanistan and NATO ISAF. His command included more than 150,000 troops from 45 allied countries. Joining McChrystal as featured speakers are combat-wounded Marine Staff Sergeant (Ret.) and FOX News correspondent Johnny "Joey" Jones, along with military wife and widow Ginger Gilbert Ravella. All funds raised will go directly to the nonprofit, whose mission is to help ensure American special operations forces and their families receive the support they need to effectively carry out their operations, keep their families intact, and lead healthy and productive lives after they have left our nation's service. sofdinner.com Sunshine Gala OCTOBER 5 | HILTON LA JOLLA TORREY PINES HOTEL Get ready to rock wearing your bling and platform shoes at this year's Serving Seniors Sunshine Gala as you rock along with Remember When Rock Was Young: The Elton John Experience to help the nonprofit continue to carry out its accomplishments in serving low-income and homeless older adults.
